Mass. woman, 98, accused of killing roommate, 100

In New Bedford, Mass. A 98 year old woman is charged with second degree murder, after she strangled her 100 year old roommate. Laura Lundquist is now in a mental hospital for a full evaluation. Lundquist killed her roommate, 100 year old Elizabeth Barrow, after she felt that she was trying to take over the room. Lundquist had complained that her roommate had to many visitors and had also made threatening and harassing comments to Barrow. Barrow had complained that Lundquist was making her life a living hell. Scott Barrow had ask the nursing home to separate the two, but the staff assured him that they were getting along just fine. The home stated that the two acted like sisters and did every thing together.

What a bunch of crap. My wife has worked in nursing homes for years and it is horrifying to hear some of the stories that she tells me. Most of these people in the nursing homes are treated like crap. They are told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. It is so sad that they live there whole lives and then get put in a nursing home and the home treats them so bad. In this case the nursing home didn't care about what was going on. That is pretty typical of most nursing homes. They don't care about these people. Most of the time it is a bunch of young kids just out of high school that are taking care of these people, we call them nurses aids. Most of them this is just a job they are just there to get a pay check and go home.

I think that the family should sue the nursing home. I mean the nursing home was aware of the problem and did nothing to correct it. The nursing home should of taken care of this, as soon as they heard about the problem. A poor woman who lived for 100 years just to end up dead because someone was at work to collect a check. That is why I will never put my family in a nursing home. I know what goes on behind those walls.

It is a shame that this poor woman's life ended this way. It is also sad to know that because the people at the nursing home were not doing there job one is dead and the other will live her last few years in a mental hospital. I think that worse thing about the whole thing is that the nursing home is getting away with murder.

Flynt wins partial victory in fight over his name

Larry Flynt in court again! This is not the first time that Flynt has seen the inside of a court room. Larry Fylnt who started in the porn business more then 40 years ago, and owns Hustler magazine, is suing his nephews for using the name Flynt on there own porn business. Flynt fired his nephews from executive positions in Nov. 2007. Flynt said that they were doing a horrible job and let them go. Flynt also says that they the boys stuff is just trash and that by using his name it is hurting his reputation. Flynt's attorney says that his client wants to maintain his good name in the porn community. A jury of four men and four women deliberated for about three hours and determined that the nephews did in fact infringe on their uncle's trademark.

Are you kidding me! I mean there stuff is trash and the others is .......... what? What reputation is he talking about. I mean look at the guy, he's not in a wheel chair just because he's old. Some really upset guy shoot him and his lawyer back 1978. I don't have a problem with what he does. It is a free country and he has the right to do what ever he wants. I don't feel that he has the right to sue his nephews for doing what he did 40 years ago. I mean Flynt is there name too.

I think that Flynt is just ticked that they went out and started there own company. I also think that there is more to all this then they were doing a horrible job. If they were doing such a bad job why did they work there for 10 and 17 years. I don't no what the real story is, but I would guess that there is more to this story then that. I mean Flynt is none for doing some very off the wall stuff.

Well this just goes to show you should never work for family. It never turns out good no matter what business it is.

Bigfoot in the northwoods? Camera picks up strange image near Remer

Tim Kedrowski and his sons believe they have a photo of a real live Bigfoot. Kedrowski had set up a motion camera in the woods just before deer seasons in Minnesota. Kedrowski retrieved the camera sometime later, and discovered a large figure in his photo's. Not knowing what to think Kedrowski then asked his neighbors if any of them had been in the area. Kedrowski discovered that nobody to his knowledge had been in the area. After a great deal of investigating Kedrowski determined that it must be Bigfoot. Kedrowski who is some what of a skeptic, firmly believes this is truly a Bigfoot. Kedrowski then contacted Don Sherman and Bob Olsen, the Northern Minnesota Bigfoot Research Team. Sherman review the evidence and the location, and determined that the photo was a Bigfoot. There has been many sightings in the past years in this community. There has been sights, foot prints, and reports of strange noises coming from the woods.

I know what you are thinking. That it is some goof ball out there trying to make a name for himself. That my be true, but it doesn't excuse the fact that there has been sights all over the world for hundreds of years. Some say they real and others say they are just a myth. I don't know if they are real or not, but I do believe that there are people out there that really do believe. I have meant some of these people and been friends with some people who have experienced an encounter with what they believed to be a Bigfoot. In this very area there is believed to be Bigfoots. There seems to be a lot of questions about Bigfoot that nobody has ever answered, and my never answer. Some ask the questions and will never believe until these questions are answered.

Bigfoot, aliens from outer space, or even ghosts do they exist? I can't say for sure, because I have never experienced any encounters my self. I do in fact have a very open mind with each of these subjects. I find it hard to believe that thousands of people just make this stuff up. I mean why not? Why can't they exist? Yes I will admit that there are questions that make them hard to believe, but there are so many things in this world that can't be explained. Seeing is believing. I think that phrase is bull. I mean how many people believe in god, and have they ever seen him. Well some say they have, but most have not and they still believe.

Believe or don't it makes no difference. People will believe what they want. I personally believe that there is something out there. Just remember somethings just can't be explained.

My thoughts

Well I know we are supposed to blog about a news article, but I have been sitting at this computer for about 10 hours. I have been trying to get caught up on my math and finishing up my last test. Well needless to say it has been a very long evening. My mind is fried and I really could not find a article that I could connect with to write about, so I decided to blog about some of my feelings about all the news articles that I have seen tonight.

I mean all the news you see on T.V. and on-line is all the same. It is all about death or murder or how some famous person screwed up. It is so depressing! I know that some people out there really like to read about what is going on out there, and on some level I do too. The problem I am having is that I am sick of hear about all the garbage out there. Where are all the good stories about happy things. I am tired of hearing about all the sick and demented people out there. Yes there are stories out there about good and happy things, but so far few and in between anymore. It is hard to sit and read story after story, about child molesters, murders, or some golfer that cheated on his wife.

People don't seem to understand the effect that the media has on the public. The media has a lot of power and most don't even know it. They have influence on what people say, do and even how they spend there money. People trust in what the media say and most believe everything they hear. When in fact most of the time the media is just out to get good ratings. Even if they have to stretch the true or straight up lie. They say what is necessary for good news, or as they say bad news is good news.

Like I said before I didn't do a blog on a news article. I did an article about how I feel about most of the news articles. Well I guess I will say sorry Mrs. Chism that I didn't post a blog on a news article, but it has just been one of those days.

Cody the convenience store dog must go, state warns

Cody the convenience store dog must go, says the state of Florida. Cody is a chocolate labrador that has greeted customers at a convenience store in Clearwater, Florida for many months. The state of Florida has put a stop to Cody's career as a store clerk. Karim Mansour, how is the owner of the store and the dog, was given a warning to remove the dog. If Mansour did not then all Mansour, food products would be unfit for consumption. Mansours store sells only packaged and sealed foods, but does not matter to the state of Florida. Mansour was told that if he had a back room where food was not stored then the dog could stay there. Mansour says that if he were to that then he may as well leave Cody at home. Many of the local customers were very upset to find out that Cody would no longer be at the store.

That is crazy! I think that the government has to much control over what people do. I mean what was he really hurting. I mean you can go into hospitals and they have theripy dogs that visit with people all the time. What about people who have speical needs they don't make them stay out of stores. What is the difference? I mean really I know some dogs that are cleaner then some people that I know. I just love how we say this is a free country but it hasn't been a truely free country in a long time. It my be the freest country in the world, but it doesn't seem fair that the government can tell you how to run your buisness.

I could understand if the guy was selling hot food that was served open or something, but it was all seal foods like pop, crackers and chips. I mean I have heard of lots of stories of people finding worst things in package food other then a dog hair. Lets set the story stright here my blog is not about what I think Cody or his owner should do. It is the fact that the government has to much control over the people. I mean just look around, I mean really look around how many things do you have to ask if you can do or get permits for. The answer is almost everything.

Needless to say it won't be long before this country is no longer free at all. If the government wants something bad enough they will do it.

White House: State dinner crashers met Obama

Secret Service were deeply concrened and embarrassed this last friday night. The Salahis, a couple from Virginia, crashed the presidential dinner. Every at the party had went through magnetmeters, so no one was in any real danger. It seems that the couple were not on the list, but some how ended up in the party. They even got to shake the Presents hands in the recieving line. It is not clear what the couple said to get in, but it is a crime to falsify statements on matters within the federal government's jurisdiction.

Good for them! If two people can get through a secret service check point, then what does that say about owr national secrety. They reported that no one was in any real danger, because everybody went through magnetmeters. Well that makes all better. It leaves me all warm and fuzy inside. I mean come on have they never heard of this stuff called hard plastic. The second thought is you mean to tell me that they can press crimial charges againt them for lieing in a federal buildung. !@#$% Sorry but that is what I think about that. I mean get real if that is the case they better get a bigger jail because everybody at the White house is going up rivier. The goverment are some of the biggest liers in the U.S..

I mean I don't get it the secret service screwed up and now they need to make a example of someone. Like I was saying before even though nobody got hurt you never know what these people could of had to hurt someone. You can hurt someone with anything sharp or even posin. I don't think these people meant any harm and yes they shouldn't of did what they did, but I think it is fun.

With this being said it just proves it doesn't matter who you are or where you are you can never be 100% save from danger.

Inmate Conceals Escape Plot with Toothpaste

New multi-million dollar expansion project at the Sullivan County Jail still under construction. renovation is partly to do with a prison break that happened last Thursday morning. Robert Hale cut out a hole in the ceiling with a piece of metal. He then would cover the hole with tooth past. Hale crawled through the sheet rock ceiling and moved to a new area of the jail where he found a window and got away. Hale is awaiting trail for armed robbery and at this point will most likely have escape charges too. Police did a k-9 search but were unable to find any trace of Hale.

Are you kidding me what kind of idiot would build a jail out of sheet rock. I mean why don't they just put them in the middle of a field and say don't move. You know that there going to stay because they are there because they are such honest people anyway right. I don't blame Hale I mean if you put a cookie in front of a child and leave the room how long do you think that the cookie will last.

If you ask me it sounds like that somebody was trying to cut cost. Well I hate to say it but just because they are in jail doesn't mean they totally stupid. My question is how did he manage to cover a hole that big with just toothpaste. The other question is nobody seen the difference in the color, come on. This guy should do his time and get out and start his own sheet rock company. I mean he definitely has a talent.

Thought of the day just because there in jail doesn't mean they are dumber then the state employees.

Mother charged in connection with daughter's disappearance

Antoinette Nicole Davis, the mother of a five year old girl, has been charged in connection with her disappearance. Th charges against Davis are human trafficking, felony child abuse, prostitution, and and filing a police report. Five year old Shaniya Davis whereabouts is still unknown. Shaniya has not been seen since early Tuesday morning. Davis says that she disappeared from there Mobile home. Shaniya was also seen on a hotel video in the company of a man about the same time the report was filed. Davis is currently being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center. Investigators are hoping to find Shaniya alive and bring her back safely.

What a sad story this is. It is sad for a number of reasons. One reason is to think a mother could treat a child that way just makes me sick. Have you ever heard that sane, There are worse things then death. Which brings me to the second reason I have read things about human trafficking. The things that they do to those girls is terrible. If this is what they did with the girl then god help her.

Chances of ever finding this girl is very unlikely. The underground world of human trafficking is one of the most profitable industry in the world. Yes believe it or not it is true. What people will do for money is so crazy and sick. To take a child or any person and make them a sex slave is horrifying.

All I can say is please pray for this little girl and hope to god that god will protect her.

Museum: Galileo's fingers, tooth are found

Galileo's two fingers and a tooth, that had been removed in the 18th century, have been found. In 1737, 95 years after his death, admirers had removed three fingers, a vertebra, and a tooth. At the Museum of the History of Science one finger, that was recovered soon afterward, is now part of it display. The vertebra however is at University of Padua. The other two fingers and the tooth where kept by the admirer and later enclosed in a container. The container was then past on from generation to generation with in the family. As time went on the family lost track of what was in the container. The container was later sold and the relics were lost. The container resurfaced at an auction after being purchased by a private collector. The collector contacted Florence culture officials who used documents and documentation from the family that had owned it for so long to figure out the the remains belonged to Galileo.

Wow, wouldn't that be some crazy stuff to find body parts in a 300 year old container. What is wrong with these people to steel someones body parts. I mean there are a lot of people that I admire, but I wouldn't steel the body parts. Who were these people Jeffery Domers ancestors. I can't believe that the family lost track of what was in the container also. I mean that is something that you just don't forget.

What I don't get why would they display the poor guys body parts in a museum. I say put the guys body parts back where they belong, with the rest of his body. I mean this poor guy had it bad enough he was condemned by Vatican for saying that the Earth revolved around the sun. Let the man lay a piece not in pieces.

Not real sure how to conclude this blog but by saying I never thought I would be doing a report on Galileo let alone about his body parts.

At 75, Charles Manson still has power to influence others

At 75, Charles Manson still has power to influence others. Manson has spent more then half of his life in prison. In 1969 Manson was the mastermind behind the killing of Sharon Tate and six others. Manson spent his 75th birthday just as any other day sitting in his cell. Manson continues to wield influence over some who consider him a wizened messenger. He spends a lot of his time singing and playing guitar in his cell. Manson also spends time talking to associates Gray Wolf and a girl named Star. Wolf and Star were both given there names by Manson as he did with his followers in 1969. Their names and words sound similar to those of Manson's past followers.Wolf and Star also moved closer to the prison to be closer to Manson. They seem to think that Manson is a great person. Star described Manson as a "monk in a monastery" by his environmental views.

What is wrong with this picture? Why do they keep letting this man talk to people. Okay, lets take a look back at the past. He never killed anybody, he talked his followers into doing it. I mean this man my be 75 years old and talk about nice things, but this man is not right in the head. Manson should be lock up and left to rot.

What is crazy is that people really believe that Mason is a good person. The thing is that he talks to these people about things they relate to and then draws them in. It is form of brain washing. You familiarize your self with the victim then slowly but surly start getting them to think like you. before you know it you have a Manson Family.

It is sad that people can still in this day and age be sucked into things like this.

Tyson faces jail if scuffle is deemed a violation

Tyson faces jail if scuffle is deemed a violation. Mike Tyson, former heavyweight champion, was arrested after a scuffle with a photographer. Tyson who is on probation could be sent to jail if he is in violation of his probation. Tyson and Echeverria, the photographer, made citizens' arrests of each other after the scuffle at Los Angeles International Airport. Each man claimed the other struck him, police said. Both men were booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. Echeverria says that Tyson struck him once and then fell to the ground. Echeverria was later treated for a cut to his forehead. Tyson's story was that he was traveling with his family when he was attacked by overly aggressive paparazzo. Echeverria refused to comply with airport personal to leave the family alone and he even collided with the baby stroller. Mike acted in self defense as a father protecting his child.

What was this guy thinking? I mean no Mike Tyson is no angle by all means, but why would you really want to tick this guy off. Tyson is known for his anger and violence, but I would have to side with Tyson on this one. Why do I believe that this guy didn't make a citizens arrest. I think it was more like to scared to get up.

If I would of heard that Tyson had assaulted anyone else, I would of believe it. The paparazzo I think need to be policed. They are dangerous! Just look at Princess Diana. People are so disrespectful of famous celebrates. They need to remember that they are just people with lives to life too.

I would have to give Tyson a free pass on this one. I also think that the reporter should be charged.

Gym. coach's complaints cost team state title

In this story a gymnastics coach cost the team a state title. Jackie Cipollini, the coach of Shawnee Mission Northwest High, questioned officials about the scoring of the balance beam. In the gymnastic world this is a violation and ended up costing the team one point. This one point violation cost the team there first place spot and knock them down to third place. "Our coach made an inquiry and it ended up being an issue that's not allowed to be inquired about," athletic director Ricard Grinage said. Grinage compared the inquire to a basketball coach getting a technical foul. "It is the rule," he said. This is the second time this year that a school lost a title because of rules infraction. A cross-country team from Maryland lost there title because of a runners improper stitching on an undergarment. Even though the team was not happy about the decision they handle it with pride and maturity, and they were willing to accept it.

I think that this is just a bunch of crap. Maybe that is the rule and maybe the coach was wrong for his actions. That is no reason to punish the kids. The kids worked hard and played hard. I feel that they should of received the title. It is about the sport and how well you preform, and as far I see they were the best and should be treated as such.

When you are in school you are told to listen to teachers and coaches. You are not to question them just do as you are told. How is this the kids fault? They did what they were trained to do and that was to win. Now they are the ones that are being punished. What is this teaching them that because you did better then the rest you lose the title. I mean I understand that the coach broke the rules, but sometimes some rule are just stupid. Like the one for the stitching on the undergarment. Come on the sport is running, what are the judges looking at there performance or there underwear.

Well with being said I think that sports from high school to pro sports should look at some of the stupid rules. Stupid rules can cost teams tiles for no reason.

4th body at Cleveland residence identified

A fourth victim was identify found last week at the home of a registered sex offender. Nancy Cobbs was reported missing in April, and has now been identified. Anthony Sowell served 15 years for attempted rape in 1990. Soweel was arrested Saturday after the first body was discovered. Sowell is facing five counts of aggravated murder, rape, felonious assault and kidnapping. Ten victims have been discovered in his house and around his house. A 11th victims skull was found in the basement. Police discovered the body's after a neighbor had call 911, because he saw a naked woman fall from a second story floor.

Okay that's it my kids and my wife are never leaving the house again. Its scary to think that there are people out there like that. That at any given second your loved ones could be taken and end up like these poor people. Why is this man even getting a trial I mean come on. People like him need to be locked up and forgotten about.

I mean I know that there are some people that go to jail for rape and didn't really do it. There had to be something about this guy that stood out. A normal person would do things like that. I guess I shouldn't say that because some people are just good at deceiving others. I mean look at BTK killer. He was normal or so everybody thought. It is just hard to tell who you can or can't trust.

I guess all I can say is be careful and always tell your love ones you love them, because you never know what crazy person you or they might run across.

Grandmother of baby found in box says mother needs help

A 7 month year old Shannon Lee Dedrick was found in a small cedar box under her baby sitters bed. The Grandmother of Shannon says her daughter Chrystina Lynn Mercer is troubled and needs help. Susan Baker reported little Shannon missing 10 hours after she had received Shannon. Baker and Mercer where both charged with the incident. Days after Shannon was reported missing the police found the child in a small box under the bed. Clothes and baking powder to hide the smell of soiled diapers were found inside the 2-foot-by-3-foot box. Shannon is now in protective custody.

Troubled!! That's an understatement. I have read other articles about this same story and this isn't the first child that has disappeared. A 3 year old child of Mercer disappeared some years ago and was never found. These two aren't troubled they are crazy. I think they need to be put in a box and left for dead.

I am not big on eye for an eye, but when it comes to an innocent little baby that's different. This child didn't ask to be born nor did she do anything to deserve this. There are so many people that want kids that can't have them and people like this just throw them away like there trash. How can anybody do something so horrific to such a small child. It makes me sick to even think about it.

With this being said I think we need to start making people fill out applications for having kids now days.

PBS documentary revives interest in century-old 'whodunit'

This is sad story of a man who was wrongly accused of something he didn't do. Almost a 100 years after his death Loe Frank makes head lines. In 1913 Frank was accused of the murder of Mary Phagan an employee of Frank. Phagan had went to the factory to collect her pay for working the previous week. Phagan was found dead around 3:00 am the next day by the night watchman, Newt Lee. Frank was later arrested for the murder due to his nervus demeanor. Frank was later convicted of the killing and sentenced to death. The night of his execution, the Governor John Slaton introduced new evidence which got his sentence reduced to life in prison. The public didn't like this decition and stormed the governors house. The mod also stormed the prison kidnaping Frank. Frank was then taken to Phagans home town and hanged. Frank was later pardoned in 1986 for the murder of Mary Phagan. “That my vindication will eventually come,” Frank is quoted as saying in the PBS documentary, “I feel certain.”

What is wrong with people? I can't imagine killing someone, and couldn't live with myself if I did. Weather Frank killed the girl or not it isn't the publics right to kill someone. I bet none of those people were held respoible for there actions. Frank was killed because he was a Jew in the south. I mean what was he thinking moving there in the first place. Don't take that wrong, I mean I have nothing against Jewish people. I am just saying look how they treated anybody that was different down south in those days.

Like I said Frank was killed because he was Jewish and an easy answer to people that wanted quick anwsers. It is sad and terrifing that some people have no respect for human life. Believe it or not this was something that was a comman practice in those days. Even our own city of Joplin is guilty of the very same thing. Yes I said Joplin, Mo! I can't remember all the details, but a young was taken from the Joplin police jail and taken to the corner of 4th and Main and hung. I mean this man was guilty, but it isn't the publics place to take the law into there own hands.

With this being said even though I don't agree with the the publics actions maybe if we things where still like that maybe people would think twice before braking the law.

Brothers Raise $11K for Charity with World Series Tix

Brothers Alex and Ben Burman , who are big Phillies fans, decided to give up there world series tickets for a good cause. The boys sold all five of there tickets for $11,000. The family of the boys will donate the $11,000 to Drexel Numann Academy, a Catholic school in Chester. “It makes me feel proud and just knowing I’m doing a good deed,” said Alex.

What is wrong with these kids, are they from a different planet or what. I mean what kid these days would do a good deed. I do good to get my kids to share with each other let alone with someone they don't even know. I am just messing around, it is great that there are still people out there that do good deeds. People are so selfish now days nobody ever thinks of others any more.

We should all take a good look at these two boys and learn a thing or two. I think that everybody should give a little, but it is all about themselves now days. I hope that these boys have inspired maybe a hope that the future isn't all bad.

With this being said, remember do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Earhart's Final Resting Place Believed Found

In 1937 Amelia Earhart attempted to be the first women to fly around the world. Unfortunately Earhart disappeared somewhere between New Guinea and Hawaii. Now the mystery maybe over. Richard Gillespie has been searching for Earhart for many years. Gillespie has found evidence that Earhart may have landed on Nikumaroro island. Nikumaroro island is a small desert island between New Guinea and her next landing site on Howland Island. In 1940 British Colonial Service officer Gerald Gallagher recovered a partial skeleton of a castaway on Nikumaroro. A woman's shoe, an empty bottle and a sextant box whose serial numbers are consistent with a type known to have been carried by Noonan, Earhart's co-pilot, were all found near the site where the bones were discovered.

After reading this story and a few other ones about this discovery I believe that this is Amelia Earhart. I believe that that Earhart had gotten lost and had turn around to find a way back to New Guinea, but was unable to reach her destination. She then had to land on Nikumaroro or had to make a crash landing in the ocean. There are a few things that I am not sure about, but never the less I do believe that Earhart and her co-pilot lived out there lives on Nikumaroro island.

Either way this is a very sad ending to a very old mystery. I can't imagine having to live out the last few years of my life all alone on an island. It would be a hard dose of reality to swallow. Even if it is Earhart this will only tell us where she died, not how or how long she may have lived.

It just goes to prove that just because the story ended with unanswered question doesn't mean that it is the end of the story. I mean even after 72 years we may final know what happened to American ledge.

Hotel owner tells Hispanic workers to change names

Larry Whitten move to a small town in New Mexico to take over a struggling hotel. Whitten, a former marine, brought a tough attitude and new rules. Some of the new rules included speaking English only and changing there first name. Whitten has had many different hotels across the country that where very successful. He jumped on the chance to buy the hotel in New Mexico for $2 million. Some employees where fired due to being hostile and insubordinate. Whitten was soon labeled as a racist, because of his methods. Many former employees picked the hotel and called him a white (N-word). Whitten says that he is not a racist and that his methods have nothing to do with the culture.

Well if you read the article there are a few things that jump out at me. The hotel has had 4 to 5 different owners. Hmmmm, that makes me wonder if all the problems are Whitten or if it has to do with employees not like new rules. I mean I don't agree with every thing that Whitten did, but it is a private business and his rules. I would have to say that I do agree with the idea of speaking English. My personal opinion is that if you live in this country you should have to speak English. Now changing there names I don't agree with, but again his hotel his rules.

I'm sure that this article will be a little touchy with some, but others will agree. I have lived in this area for a lot of years and I can remember when there weren't hardly any Hispanics in Carthage. In the past 10 to 15 years I have watched Carthage change. I don't feel that we should have to adapt to any culture, because they came here. If we go to there country we have to adapt to them, so why is it we have to change for them. My whole point to this is I in a way see where Whitten is coming from. Like I said I don't agree with everything he did, but I understand how he feels.

With this being said think before you act. You never know how people will interpret what you do or say.

Cop Caught on tape beating a man

San Bernardino police department are under investigation due to a video of a police officer beating a man. Darren Johnson was pulled over after he had commented several traffic violations. The 43 year old man that gotten upset after being stopped. The officer pulled the man out of the car and to the ground. One officer healed Johnson down as the other officer beat him with a baton. One bystander started filming the incident as others were shouting out stop and that is enough.

Cops have to much power. Cops do what ever they want and I think someone needs to put a stop to it. What ever happened to protect and serve. Cops take it to far some times, but what can we do about it. If you try to fight back you are just going to get in more trouble. I am not saying that all cops are bad, but there are a lot out there. I think that cops let all that power go to there head and some use it in the wrong way.

I mean come on maybe Johnson did started it but there was no need for a beat down. The man was on the grown being held down by one officer why did the other cop need to beat him. One blogger made a comment about don't judge the cops until you have walked in his shoes. I don't need to walk in his shoes to know that what I saw was wrong. There job is to arrest bad people not to be judge and jury.

Anyway I just think that the police need to be policed a little better.

Affidavit: Mom told deputies balloon saga was hoax

Mayumi Heene admits that the balloon saga was just a hoax. Mayumi Heene the mother of Falcon Heene the boy who was once thought to be in the runaway balloon tells the sheriff department it was just a hoax to get media attention. Mayumi told the sheriff department that they had planed the whole thing about two weeks before, and that they told the kids to lie about it. Richard Heene the father still sticks to the story he told. Sheriff department has recommend charges be brought against the parents. Charges include conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities, and attempting to influence a public servant. A few of the crimes are felony and they could spent up to six years in prison.

Surprise! Did I call that or what? In a previous blog I had said that I believed that this was just a hoax. What is wrong with these people? You are suppose to set an example for your kids, not teach them to be liars and idiots. I think at least the father should spend some time in prison, and maybe he would grow up. Even thow I don't agree with what the mother did at least she came clean, and besides that I am sure Richard had a little influence on what she did.

I feel that people are really getting out of hand when it comes to reality TV. I mean that is what this whole thing was about. People are always looking the easy way, the next get rich quick scheme. If people really want to get rich or be successful then what ever happened to good hard work. If people would just put half the effort into something positive then trying to take short cuts then I think people would go a lot further and be happier.

With all that being said it is going to get worse, because people are greedy and don't use there brain. I mean who doesn't want to be rich or famous, but for me there is just that line I won't cross to so.

Doctor says near-death experiences are in the mind

This story is about a woman who had a near-death experience. Laura Geraghty suffered a heart attack while at work where she drives a school bus. Geraghty was dead for 57 minutes before she was brought back. Dr. Kevin Nelson, a neurologist in Louisville, Kentucky, thinks that it is just a dream. It is the bodies way of reacting to danger. Dr. Bill O'Callahan seems to think just the opposite, his words say that Dr. Nelson thoughts are just hogwash.

I think that Dr. Nelson is crazy. I think the doc is having a problem with proving what these people are saying so he is looking for his own truth. Some people don't believe in heaven and hell and that is fine, but let the people who do believe, believe. One doctor asked the question, Why is it that every person sees the same thing? So this makes him believe that it is a dream. WOW, that would make me believe that it was not a dream. That it is what really happens when we die. Besides that how can a man like Dr. Nelson stand there and say what these people are or are not feeling or seeing. This is something only a person who has went through this can really explain.

Sorry this guy just really pissed me off. I have a great aunt who was never really in to church or god. She believe in god but it was never really part of her life. A few years ago she was hit by a car who ran a stop sign. They took her to hospital where she died and then brought back. She explained her story to my mom. She said that she does not remember the accident. She remembers being in the car and the next thing she remembers is standing in the emergency room looking at herself laying on the hospital bed while the doctors tried to bring her back. She then told my mom that she was not alone, beside stood Jesus. Jesus turned to her and said it is not your time. The next thing she remembers is waking up in her hospital room.

People are going to believe what they want to believe. The thing is that there are just some things out there that we just can't explain.

Family at center of balloon saga faces scrutiny

This story is about a young boy who was thought to be in a homemade flying saucer. Richard Heene, the father of the young boy, had made a flying saucer in his back yard. On the day of launch the flying saucer was thought to be tied off so that it would go up,but not fly away. After launch they relized that the over size balloon was not in fact tied off and floated away. One of the other kids made a comment about his young brother being inside the balloon. The parents went into a panic and called 911. Policed followed the balloon by vehicle and by air for sevel miles until the ballon final decended and came to a stop. Everybody watch to see if the young boy was okay or not. Come to find out the young boy was not inside the balloon, but instead was hiding in the families atic at home.

I am sure that most everybody has seen this story on the news in the last few days. Well I think that the whole thing was a hoax. This dad has been on the show Wife swape and has done a lot of different stupid stuff to get on TV. I mean come on who takes there kids storm chasing. I think these kids where told what to do and what to say. The thing is at this young age kids don't always remember what to say or not to say. In a TV interview the young boy was asked a question and he responded with we did it for the show. Well I would say that the cat was out of the bag.

I think that they should be investigated and find out the truth and the parents should be held acccountable for the whole mess. I also think that there are other problems in this family other then there dad being an idiot. I feel that this guy has some major mental problems.

Well if it was attention this guy was wanting, he will for sure get lots of it now weather he wants it or not.

Carthage landfill opens to county

Jasper county residents will be able to haul their trash to the Carthage landfill according to Commissioner Jim Honey. Due to a 20,000 grant rates have been lowered at the Carthage landfill allowing county residents to haul off their trash. The Carthage landfill will accept items such as mattresses, box springs furniture, general trash and demolition waste. They will also accept many other recyclable items as well. Fees for different items will very from $10 to $350 depending on what and how much trash you many have.

It is great that Carthage is trying to help the people in the county by taking their trash. This helps people to get rid of their trash and helps clean up the county. I really wish that they would bring back the spring clean up. With the economy the way it is not everybody can afford to pay for their trash to be taken. That's okay, because if you don't pay then you will be fined by the city for having trash in your yard. Hm mm seems like a racket to me. Spring clean up was so that once a year people could gather the junk they had built up and get rid of it for free.

I just think that we pay for the trash to be hauled off in our water and electric bill. Plus we pay our taxes every year for different city benefits. Now they expect use to pay even more to haul off our junk ourselves. I just think the people of Carthage give and give, but the city doesn't seem to want to give back. I also think that the city has figured out that they can make a buck off our junk.

Well with this being said if they think I am going to pay someone to take my junk, they are crazy. I will haul my junk somewhere for free.

TLC's Duggar Reality Family Welcomes First Grandchild

This story is about the Dugger's family first grandchild. A new member of the dugger family has arrived. At 8 pounds and 19.5 inches long Mackynzie Renee Dugger has joined the amazingly large family. Mackynzie is the first grandchild of Jim Bob and Michelle Dugger who have had 18 children of there own and one on the way. Joshua, the oldest of the 18 kids and his wife Anna delivered little Mackynize at there home with a midwife and doula assisting in the birth.

Wow, how would it feel to have 17 aunt and uncles. I have watched the show 18 Kids and Counting and it is amazing how close all of there family is. Mackynzie is a very lucky girl to have such a large family who loves each other so much. The Duggers are very simple and grounded family. I think that the whole world could learn a lot from the Duggers. I also think that Mackynzie will never have to worry about being alone. I can't imagine having having one child anymore, but I sure couldn't imagine having 18. I think that Mackynzie will grow up and learn a lot from her aunts and uncles.

I am very happy for the young couple and there new baby and wish them the very best. It is nice to see that there are still really good and honest people out there like the Duggers. I come from a average size family and being the youngest of three I never really knew what it was like to have large family. I felt more like an only child, because my siblings are much older then me. I don't think that the new baby will ever have that problem.

Well all I have to say is I wish lots of luck to Josh and Anna, and there new baby girl.

Gasps as Obama awarded Nobel Peace Prize

Obama wins the Noble Peace prize. People where shocked to here that President Barack Obama was the winner of the 2009 Noble peace prize. Norwegian Noble Committee say that by giving the peace prize to Obama is a early vote of confidence that will build global support for policies of his young administration. Others say that it is premature and too early. Obama who was surprised by win will be going to Oslo to receive the prize, but says that he doesn't feel that he deserves it. Obama will also be donating the 1.4 million award that comes with the award to charity. Obama is the third U.S. president to receive the peace prize. Theodore Roosevelt won it in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson won it in 1919. In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."

Well I could go on for hours about Obama, but I would have to agree with the majority that it is to early. What has he done? The man has only been president for 9 months and has done what. Yes he has done one thing that nobody else has ever done. He has became the first black president. He has done the same thing that all the other presidents before him and that is made a lot of promised that he has not kept. I mean he was running for president he said what he had to to win. I know what people will say about this blog, and no it has nothing to do with his race. I don't care weather or not he is black white purple or poke-it-dot. I don't feel that he has done anything to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

I mean if he can bring peace to Iraq or solve the world economy problems then great. That would be something. All I have seen is TV appearances and broken promises about ending the war. The man said himself that he does deserve it, but he did decline it either. The article calls him humble, I don't feel that is. Just because he said he didn't deserve the award. Then decline it and let someone who has done something great have it. Like I said before I could go on and on about Obama, because personally I am no a fan. The Nobel Peace Prize is for someone who has done something great and I don't feel that Obama has done great things. I mean he has a lot of ideas and a lot of irons in the fire, but he needs to show the world that he can follow through first.

With that being said I don't think you should reward the idea, but you should reward the action. Ideas Obama has, but I don't see the action.

Filming of 'Jon & Kate' kids halted

This story is about Jon Gosselin putting a stop to the filming of the show Jon and Kate plus 8. The TLC show Jon and Kate pus 8 has came to a halted after Jon the father of 5 year old sextuplets and 8year old twins put a stop to the show. Kate, Jon's soon to be ex-wife, feels that Jon is just thinking of himself and not the kids. Kate says she does the show for the kids. Jon and Kate had decided to part ways a few months back. Not to long after the show was renamed Kate plus 8. Kate feels that the show has provided her family with opportunities that they would never had other wise.

What ever! I think that they should rename the show just Kate. I have watched this show for past 2 years and lets be honest it has always been about Kate. Why did Jon put a stop to the show? Who knows, but I would guess he's tire of people using his kids to get rich while they all bad mouth him. Jon has been dragged through the mud the past few mouths. I mean I don't know what is true or not, but even if what they say about him is true I can't say I blame him. Kate needs to play some of the old shows back and maybe she can see what kind of ?*%!$ she has been. Kate isn't in this for the kids shes in it for the money, free trips, and the attention.

Jon has never done anything right and anything he says is so stupid. Well if you have ever watched the show that is what Kate says. Jon putting a stop to the show is great I think. At first it was about the kids and how they live there lives with this many kids. Now it is just about how hard life is with there relationship. Great, it is bad enough that the kids have to go throw the whole divorce in the first place. Now they have to see reruns later down the road and the media talking smack about there father. Isn't divorce hard enough without the whole world judging every move you make. If Kate is so worried about the kids she would agree with the stop of the show and deal with there family problems in private for the kids sake.

Maybe Jon has made mistakes and we know that Kate has, but I think that they both need to grow up and think of how this going to affect the kids.

Captor kept me on tether, Elizabeth Smart testifies

This story is about Elizabeth Smarts testimony against her abductor. Smart tells a court about how she was abducted at knife point while sleeping next to her sister. Mitchell, the man who abducted Smart, was not in the court room because of his behavior. Mitchell was in a private room where he watched Smart testify on video. Smart told the court how Mitchell take her to a wooded area where he preformed a wedding ceremony and then raped her. Over the next 9 months Mitchell abused and raped Smart 3 to 4 times a day. Mitchell would keep her tether to a cable that was attached to two trees. Smart also forced to take drugs and drink alcohol. Mitchell claims that all his actions were justified by his religious beliefs. Smart nightmare ended when someone noticed her walking down the street with Mitchell and his wife.

My first question is where does a freak like this find a wife that is as crazy as he is. This guy shouldn't even get a trial, and he shouldn't pass go. He should just go to jail. A man like this needs to be castrated and locked up for ever. Mitchell is mentally ill and can't be fixed. At this age it makes me wonder how many times he's done this before and nobody know about it.

This is a very scary thought to think that someone can just sneak in your house and steal your child. As a father of four it makes me sick to my stomach to think that it could happen to one of my kids. Mr. Smart is a much stronger person then I am, because if it where one of my kids Mitchell would never have to worry about go to jail I would. There is nothing in this world that is more important then my family and for someone to hurt them in such a way would be, well I don't think there are words to describe. I think that Smart is a has a very strong soul, because some people would not have had the will to survive.

So god bless Elizabeth Smart and I wish all the best for her and family.

Winning Lotto numbers not always the ticket to dreams, success

This story is about a few people who's lives changed after winning the Lotto. Most people dream of hitting there lucky numbers, but some end up very unhappy in the end. Jay Vargas won 35.3 million at the age of 19. At first he partied hard and lived like a rock star, but over time learned to slow down and manage his money. Then there was Rhoda Toth who won 13 million. Rhoda's story didn't end as nicely as Jay. The money caused her marriage to crumble, her daughter to hate her,and it all ended with Rhoda in prison. Many others told there story of how there lives changed. One thing that everybody did say is that people would come out of the wood works asking for money. Some lives changed for the better and some ended up a nightmare.

Amazing what money can do to some people. It is all about how you where raised I think. Money is great to have, but like they say it can't buy happiness. I blows my mind that people can let money ruin there lives. There is not a day that goes by that I don't wish I could hit it big. Money money money it makes the world go around or some seem to think so. Money is the root of all evil you might say. It is the number one reason for divorce and it is the main reason for most crimes. I would love to win the lotto, but if I had millions and it came down to losing my family or my freedom you better believe I would give it all up. Not everybody can say that.

Some people would say that, you can't say that until you have been there. Yes, I can say that, because like I said before it is all about how you where raised. No not all people turn out how they where raised, but some of us do. I would go out and blow some of it, but you have to know when to stop. Life is about finding happiness not buying it.

All I can say is that I hope that people can find happiness weather they have $200 or 200 million.

NJ Women Celebrates Her 100th Birthady at Work

Parsippany-NJ Astrid Thoenig, went to work on her 100th birthday. She got up and dressed and went to work just like she has for the past 30 years. She says that they don't make many birthday cards that read Happy 100th Birthday. She was born Sept. 24, 1909. She doesn't recall a lot from her childhood other than walking downstairs one morning and seeing two coffins in the living room. One for her sister and one for her father. They were killed in the pandemic flu in 1918. Her mom, her, and her sister all also had the flu but survived.

When I read this story I thought wow, I hope that I look and feel like her if I live to see 100. To know that she gets up every morning and goes to work, is amazing. I don't think that I want to be working when I am 100, but I would. I think it is truly amazing. I am in awe of this women.

She is very courageous. She is truly one to be admired. I think that it is great that she is still on the go. That is what is bad for people to stop going and trying. Everyone should work hard and exercise, and take good care of their health.

That way maybe there will be a better selection of birthday cards that say Happy 100th Birthday.

Charles Manson Follower Dies

Los Angeles, CA- Charles Manson follower Susan Atkins died at the age of 61. She shocked the world in 1969 when she showed no emotion to killing pregnant actress Sharon Tate. She had been suffering from cancer. She died less then a month after the parole board turned down her last chance of freedom. She had underwent brain surgery and leg amputation and had been told she only had months to live. Atkins was the first of the Manson followers to die.

My theory on this is that, she got what was coming to her after the life she chose for herself. I see it that GOD gave her cancer for a reason. I do not wish cancer on anyone, but I believe that she got cancer for killing a pregnant woman. I feel that Debra Tate said it the best, "I will pray for her soul until she takes her last breathe, but she should still be locked up."

I know that I may sound harsh, but what do you expect to hear after you murder a woman and her unborn baby. If nothing else what did that baby do to anyone. It couldn't have done anything because it wasn't even born yet. It is people like that that make me sick to my stomach.

I hope that everyone prays not for Atkins soul, but for that of the baby who was killed.

Let Elton John and his partner adopt

This story is about how the Ukrainian government will not allow Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, adopt. Elton and David visited a Ukrainian orphanage recently and feel in love with a 14-month old boy with HIV. Ukrainian government feel that the couple are too old to adopt a child. A church spokesman thanked god that it was impossible for Elton to adopt. Church spokesman Father Gulyaev also says that Elton was a sinner and is the dead end of human development. Lev the child, will most likly end up in foster care. The author of this article made this out to be about them being gay.

I am not sure if the Ukrainain government stoped the adoption because they a gay or not. I don't feel that would be right, but I would have to agree that they are too old. I mean Elton is 62 years old. A man of that age should not be adooting a child. I think this whole article was about gay marrage and trying to make the Ukrainain government look bad. I personly don't care about gay marrige either way. If two people want to be together more power to them. I think that Elton and David need to think about little Lev future.

Little Lev needs to have a family that can grow with him. At the age of 62 Eltons time is on the down side of the hill. Where is Lev going to be in the next 10 to 15 years? A time in his life were Lev will need his parants the most Elton will be in his mid 70's to early 80's. I have a friend who was raised by his grandparants and by 15 he was all alone. Both his grandparants had passed away and at the age of 15 he was on his own. I don't care if they are gay or not I just think they need to think about how this is going to play out.

With this all being said I think that Elton is trying to give a child a better life and that is great. I wish that more people would open there hearts and do the same. I also feel that Elton and David have to keep the best interist of the child and think about his future.

Man's Lung Ailment Caused by Spoon

John Manly, Wilington, North Carolina recently discovered the cause to his illnesses for the last two years, such as pain, coughing, and vomiting. His doctor found the spoon when doing a procedure where he puts a little tube with a camera on the end of it down into the mans lung. He had explained that there was an object down there that had words on it. It wasn't just any object though it was a plastic spoon. Not just any old plastic spoon but one from Wendy's. They did surgery last week to remove it. On one side it said Wendy's and on the other it said Hamburgers. Manley said that it must have been in the food or a drink. Manley stated that he was, "floored" when he found out. So were his relatives, when they were phoned with the news. But to make it even more shocking was that his relatives were eating at Wendy's when they were told the news.

This is really shocking when I read this story. I was kind of like how do you not know that you just ate part of a plastic spoon? On the other hand I was like how does a worker not see this when they are making the food. I would bet anything that words cannot express the true amount of shock this man felt when he was told the news. Then to call your relatives to tell them the news only to learn that they are currently eating at Wendy's when you call them.

This is actually pretty funny. I mean to find out that you swollowed a spoon not so funny but to be able to prove where the spoon came from. If there was ever a better fast food law suit I haven't heard of it. I have heard of the dumb ones, like I burned myself on coffee. But never one where someone had swollowed a spoon two years ago.

With this being said I thought passing a kidney stone was bad can you imagine passing a spoon!

AP: Man admits role in planned terror attack

This story is about Najibullah Zazi, who is under investigation for a terrorist plot against the United States. Zazi, who is 24 is from Afghanistan. At the age of 7 Zazi moved to Pakistan, and 1999 moved to Queens, New York. Zazi now lives in Denver and works as shuttle driver for the airport. The FBI has been question Zazi but no arrest has been made. FBI have discovered a laptop in an apartment that Zazi had been visiting with direction of how to build a bomb. Zazi has also admitted to being at a terror training camp in Pakistan, where Zazi has had contact with al-Qaida. Zazi's attorney, Arthur Folsom says that Zazi was just at the wrong place that the wrong time.

Well I don't like to judge people I don't know, but the clue's don't look good. I mean yes, I myself have had friends in the past that well where not the best people to be around, but come on. Well lets recap Zazi is from a terrorist country, works at an airport, has friends with bomb instructions, has been to a terror training camp, and makes trips to and from Pakistan. I'm guessing it wasn't Mr. Plum with the candle stick if you know what I mean. His attorney says he was just at the wrong place that the wrong time. I have also been in the wrong place at he wrong time, but I wasn't the guy holding the gun and saying don't move this is a robbery either. My question is if you get pulled over for anything a police officer can ask to search your car and if you say no well he's going to anyway. Question is, if they have all this evidence on Zazi way is he still free. I mean I have seen people get arrested for a lot less.

Like I said before I don't like to judge people I don't know. I don't know made Zazi is just the most unlucky guy in the world, but I highly doubt it. I think that Zazi is up the creek without a paddle at this point. Even if he is telling the truth he will always be watched no matter what he does. One thing that bothers me is that since the age of 14 he has lived in the United States. He has lived here long enough to know that America is not like his country says it is. If he does feel that America is so bad then the hell with him. If he would rather live in prison the rest of his life then so be it. I guess I just don't understand why people would rather live in a country where you have to fear everything rather then live in a country where you can live as you choose.

I guess that just leaves to say that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

World's 2 most valuable brands: Coca-Cola, IBM

This story is about how customers have lost trust in brands since the begin of the recession. For the first time in 10 years the world's top 100 brands have fallen says Interbrand, a branding agency that ranks different companies. The recession has caused people to loose trust in some name brands, says Interbrand CEO Jez Frampton. Frampton believes that, "Brands are promises which we value and are prepared to pay for and if we feel those promises have been broken we're less likely to trust." Many companies have lost a lot of ground this past year due to the recession. Companies like American Express down 7 spots from 15, or Citi way down 17 spots from 19. Other companies like GM who had taken government aid, lost trust from customers and didn't even make the top 100. The Coca-Cola Co. who has stayed in the number one spot since 2000, has stayed very stable. Even though Microsoft, General Electric, and Nokia lost ground in the past year they were still able to make the it in to the top 5.

Wow, it was hard to read this story without throwing up. I mean yes, the past year has been hard for everyone, but come on. They made a couple of BILLION less then the year before. I'm sure that the CEOs of these companies lost lots of sleep over the whole thing. Don't get me wrong a billion dollars is a lot of money, but when you made 34 billion to 32 billion, please. What about the people who lost their jobs, because companies like this wouldn't take a cut themselves. Lost trust you better believe I lost trust. The only thing big companies like this care about is them selves and their way of life. Not all companies are like this but the majority will throw you away like a piece of trash and never think twice about it.

Sorry I am so hostel about the whole thing, but I am so sick of hearing about how hard it has been for people who have lost nothing compared to those who have lost everything. I think that the recession has been very bad for many, and sure people have lost trust in a lot of companies. I also think that the recession has opened a lot of peoples eyes to the truth about what some companies are all about. It has also helped people understand that just because it has a brand name doesn't always mean it is better.

Just a thought to remember that know matter what your bank account says today doesn't mean you are safe tomorrow, just ask the ex- CEO of GM Motors.

Fallen California firefighters remembered at memorial

This story is about two fallen firefighters.(http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/09/12/california.wildfire.memorial/index.html )
The two men, Ted Hall and Arnie Quinones, the were trying to find an way out of California wildfires for 55 of there crew. In the search the two men them selves lost there lives when there vehicle slid down a steep embankment. The 55 inmates that Hall and Quinones were trying to save did in fact make it out alive. Hall leaves behind his wife, two sons, and his parents. Quinones leaves behind his wife how is expecting there first baby in the next couple of weeks and his mother.

I feel that these two men should be considered heroes. They did what they loved to do even though it put there lives at risk for others. These two men had courage that most men only dream about.

These men are heroes because they not only put there lives on the line but this is something they choose to do. Even though they had families at home they still walked out the door when ever needed, to help somebody else. To put your life on the line to save another is not something just anybody could do it takes a special kind of person to do something that courageous.

In my mind it is a great tragedy that these two men lost there lives. I also feel for the families, because I know what it is like to lose a father. I just hope the families of Ted Hall and Arnie Quinones know that they are true heros.

Will The Endangered American Drive-in Fade to Black?

The American Drive-In

In these times you can pretty much drive to anywhere that you want. It was inevitible that the Americans created the drive-in theater. The first drive-in theater was built in New Jersey in 1933. By the end of the 1950's there was thousands of drive-in theaters. The man who thought up the ideal of the drive-in theater was named Richard Hollingshead. He held the patent on drive-in's until the 1950's. Most drive-in theaters were like the iconic American drive-in lore.

Families with children stuffed in the back and rowdy teenagers on one side and a couple who are not even interested in the movies on the other side. From that peak time in the fifties to now there are less then 400 screen open nationwide. This has been the perfect family outing for years, and probably will be for years to come.

I feel that drive-in's are great. They are a good place to take the kids and have a good time. By going to the drive-in you can see two movies for the price of one and you usually get to see the kids movie first and then the parents get to see something that they enjoy. Which usually by the time the second movie starts the kids are usually tired and starting to fall asleep.

I worry that one day there may not be a drive-in near us to beable to take the kids to at such a low price. We hear a lot about drive-in's closing. With this economy the way it is, I fear we will loose more drive-in's than what anyone wants. All we can do is go out and enjoy them and pray that our grandchildren will also get to go the drive-in with their families one day.

Judge Rules Wolf Hunts in Rockies can Proceed

This blog (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/10/science/earth/10wolf.html ) is about how a judges ruling to proceed with hunting the grey wolf in Montana and Idaho. The grey wolf was removed from the endangered species list about four months ago. The gray wolf has not been hunted in the United States for decades. Environmentalists and animal welfare groups attempt, to stop the hunts where stopped when Judge Donald W. Molloy made his decision to proceed with the hunts. Judge Molloy says that as long as only 20 percent of the 1350 wolves are killed then the population would have no problem bouncing back.

My reaction to the story at first was mixed feelings on the whole thing. I mean hunting is good to help keep the population down and not get over populated. On the other hand 1350 that to me doesn't seem like a real big number. I am a hunter or when I have time I like to think I am anyway. I would think they would give the wolves a least a few years to see how they do before they just start killing them off again. Specially just getting off the endangered species list only four months ago. I guess even though I am a hunter I don't feel this is a good idea.

I feel that they are not giving the wolf a fair chance. I know from being around many different types of hunters, that just because there is a season for a animal that doesn't mean that they will follow the rules. Some hunters will kill more then what they are legally allowed to kill. This being said the 20 percent that they are saying will be killed could turn into 40 or 50 percent. Then where does that put the wolf, right back where it started an endangered species or worst. I don't think this was a good decision on the the judges part.

I guess in this case I would have to side with the environmentlist and animal welfare groups. I mean don't get me wrong I sill like to hunt, but I would not want to be responsible for wiping out an entire species. Like I said before hunting is good to help keep populations down so that the animals don't starve themselves not to wipe them out.

Walmart's Project Impact: A Move to Crush Competition

This story is about Wal-marts new strategy to crush there competition.(http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20090909/us_time/08599192069800) Wal-mart, the worlds largest retail store, wants to take out the remaining competition, by a massive remodel, cleaner, and less cluttered stores. There goal is to have a better shopping experience for there customers. Wal-mart is taking there largest competitors like, K-mart, Target ,and Toys "R" Us, and using there own strategies against them.

I think that Wal-mart is just trying to take advantage of a bad situation. Kick when their down is all I see. Wal-mart is not in any financial trouble by any means. Its companies like Wal-mart that are killing the American dream of building a business and being successful.

Wal-mart is killing the little man, because the small business owner can't compete with there prices. I mean yes it is great to be able to have a one stop shop for convince and yes they my have lower prices then most. I think that it gives Wal-mart a bad image to take advantage of other company's that are just trying to get through rough times.

With that being said in the future when Wal-mart has all other competitors out of business, what do think prices will be? There won't be any price comparison, because there won't be anybody to compare to. Wal-mart will able to price there product higher and what choice will we have.

Dutch teen in battle to sail solo around globe

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090825/ap_on_re_eu/eu_netherlands_young_sailor

The story I picked is about a thirteen year old girl who wants to sail around the world solo. Laura Dekker, thirteen, wants to sail around the world solo, but the Dutch Council for Child Protection wants to put a stop to her trip. Some are trying to say that Laura does not have enough experience, and that she would not be able to handle unexpected problems. Experts also feel that the long and lonely trip would effect her emotional development as well. Laura has been dreaming of sailing around the world solo since she was ten. Even though her parents didn't think much of the idea at first Laura some how convinced them other wise. Laura plans to take two years sailing around the world, waiting out bad weather in different ports.

My first reaction to the story was let her go. If her parents feel that she is able, then it should be there decision. Why shouldn't she be able to live her dream? This is a chance of a life time. Like I said that was my first thought. The more I read into the story, the more I thought, what if my kids wanted to sail around the world? Well that was the end of that thought. There is no way I would let my child go anywhere alone for two years.

Thirteen, two years, around the world! What are these parents nuts!! There are entire ships that go missing out in the ocean every day. "American teen admitted he was tracked by pirates while sailing." What would Laura do if pirates attached her? It does take much imagination to thank what would happen to a thirteen year old girl all alone in the middle of no where. Having a thirteen year old step daughter, I could never allow her to be in a dangerous situation such as that.

Even though I would like to ship my kids to the other side of the world sometimes. I could never really let them be in harms way. I feel that is exactly what Laura's parents are doing. I don't feel that they are wanting any harm to come to Laura. Some times we have to put a hold on there dreams. Laura's time will come, but I think for her own sake this is for the best.
