Parsippany-NJ Astrid Thoenig, went to work on her 100th birthday. She got up and dressed and went to work just like she has for the past 30 years. She says that they don't make many birthday cards that read Happy 100th Birthday. She was born Sept. 24, 1909. She doesn't recall a lot from her childhood other than walking downstairs one morning and seeing two coffins in the living room. One for her sister and one for her father. They were killed in the pandemic flu in 1918. Her mom, her, and her sister all also had the flu but survived.
When I read this story I thought wow, I hope that I look and feel like her if I live to see 100. To know that she gets up every morning and goes to work, is amazing. I don't think that I want to be working when I am 100, but I would. I think it is truly amazing. I am in awe of this women.
She is very courageous. She is truly one to be admired. I think that it is great that she is still on the go. That is what is bad for people to stop going and trying. Everyone should work hard and exercise, and take good care of their health.
That way maybe there will be a better selection of birthday cards that say Happy 100th Birthday.
