Nightmares and Vengeance: Movie Critic Roundup

Freddy is back, or is he? Jackie Earle Haley has take the role of Freddy Krueger in the new Nightmare on Elm Street. So how does Haley compare to Robert Englund, the original Freddy. Englund played Freddy in eight films and a TV series. According to Michael Rechtshaffen,of the Hollywood Reporter, there is no replacing Englund. Overall Rechtshaffen didn't like the movie. As for Roger Ebert, famous movie critic, he gave it only one star out of four. Bill Gibron from Filmcritic.com seemed to really like it, and gave it four out of five stars. All in all most of the critics didn't much care for the film.

Well I went back to school to become an engineer, but maybe I need to change my major. It looks to me that Hollywood needs some new writers. By all means I am no Wes Craven or Steven King, but come on. Is there no more imagination left out there. Did they run out of ideas in Hollywood or what. I mean every time you turn around there is another remake of an old movie. If all it takes is to take someone else's story and rewrite it to make millions, well then I'm get screwed. I have been doing that for the last two semester. There called blogs.

What I really hate is the fact that they take a good movie and ruin it. I mean there are just somethings you can't remake. I think the Freddy Krueger with Robert Englund is unreplaceable. Don't get me wrong I am not saying that the movie is bad, because I haven't seen it yet. It may very well be a good movie, but it will never be better then the original. I think that people need to start thinking out side the box and come up with some new stuff. I mean come on Batman is played out, give use a new super hero.

I feel that people are being lazy and just don't wait to come up with something new, because it is to easy to make a quick buck by changing someone else work and call it there own. Is that what this world is coming to, where we can't even think for ourselves anymore.
