Young and immature, I guess we were all that way at one time. Some were more immature then others, but still we were all that way at one time. Well I say we were all that way at one time, but I guess some people are still that way. You know what I mean! Some people just never grow up. Some people like my nephew!
I was talking to my sister earlier today and she was tell me about her son Levi. Levi is eighteen and as most teenagers knows everything. Levi finished school just last year and decided to join the Army. Which was great!!! Everybody was excited for him, well except his mother of course. That was just because of the war over seas, other then that she was very proud of him. Levi left for boot camp not to long after he got out of school. Was gone for some time and a week before he was to graduate he was discharged for medical. Levi came very upset and disappointed. Never the less he wasn't about to give up. He went to the doctor and got a clean bill of heath and is planning on reenlisting next month.
I know you are thinking okay so what is so immature about that right. Well that is just the introduction to Levi. The truth is since Levi got back from the Army he has explored his new found adulthood. Since Levi has been back he has partied, partied, partied!!!!! Well that has not sat well with his mother. You see they live on a working farm, and anybody who has worked on a working farm knows what that means. WORK!!! You work from sunrise to sunset. Well since Levi parties so much it makes it really hard for him to get out of bed. It also does help that Levi has turn eighteen and feels that he doesn't have to do any work. Well my sister and her husband don't have that same feeling. Levi binge drinks almost every night with his friends, and as a result of that he is not the nicest person to wake up at NOON!!!
Levi has yelled, screamed, horrible things at his mom. Things that I can not repeat. My sister has had a very hard time with dealing with all this and does not know what to do. He has moved out several times since he came back from the army, but he always sobers up and asks to come home. Then the whole thing began again.
I told her that if he doesn't go back into the army, then I would give him a real dose of reality. I told her when he calls to come home I would say no. I mean I know it sounds harsh, but he will never grow up if he knows she will always bail he out.

School system in Va. won't teach version of Anne Frank book
The Culpeper County public school has decided to stop assigning the new copy of Anne Frank's diary. It seems that there were several complains made by parents of sexually explicit material and homosexual themes. According to James Allen, director of instruction, the new 50th edition of the book will no longer be assigned to the students. Allen said that the school will keep a copy of the new book in the library, but they will assign the old edition to the students . Culpeper's policy is that parents are to submit the complaint in writing. In this case the parents verbally complained so nothing was done. According to Angela Maycock, assistant director of the office intellectual freedom, "Something that one individual finds controversial or offensive or objectionable may be really valuable to other learners in that community." There has been six challenges to "The Diary of Anne Frank," by the ALA. The Alabama textbook committee says that the book is a real downer and wants it rejected from the schools .
Well my first opinion about this is that anything that is sexual explicit should not be in the school system. I mean personal I have not read the book, and I don't think that I would really have much of a problem with my kid reading it. The thing is that I do know of other people that would have major problems with it. I don't feel that it should be up to any school board to decide what is okay or not okay in some areas. I mean if it has to do with a sexual matter then it should be in health class where you have to get written permission from the parents. I mean I get where the schools are coming from, because it is a part of history and the story should be heard. Even though I really don't agree with the complaining parents, I do understand where they are coming from. Some parents don't want there children to be exposed to that kind of explicit nature.
My second opinion about what the Alabama textbook committee said about the book being a real downer. Are you kidding me? I mean come on!! It is about a book of a little girl's life that was destroyed and turn upside down. This was a horrible horrible even that happened during World War II. What were they expecting? I mean weather it was a downer or not it is part of history and kids need to know about it. They need to know that life can change at anytime and that life is not always rainbows flowers and good times. They need to know that some times bad things happen to good people.
Well these were my opinions about the article. Even though I don't agree with everything that was said or done. I can understand there sides of the story.
